Manufacturing - Forecasting and Materials Requirements Planning
Forecasting/Materials Requirements Planning. Forecasting is designed to provide a way of predicting future inventory requirements based on historical sales data. Sales are predicted for inventory items by using either linear regression or curve fitting methods. The Manufacturing Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) module is driven by the forecast generated by this module and uses it to base its requirements planning on. When the forecast generation process is run, a "sales weighting" factor can be set that will weight sales up or down from the average.
